About

ParsonsHeadshotI am a mother, a teacher, a musician and an aspiring writer living in the wilds of the East Texas Piney Woods.

I am a former public school teacher and currently homeschool my own children, not as a first choice, but as the best one for our family right now. I write about what works for us (and what doesn’t) and what translates from my classroom experience to my experiences now at home. I want to post content and products that help other homeschooling families find their way – and to make that way a bit easier!

I also write about motherhood in the modern age. So many of us aren’t doing it like our mothers did. We are working outside the home (and in it), we are juggling multiple interests – and many of us (too many) are doing it alone, either by virtue of being single parents or by living far from family, friends and tribe.

I also write the occasional outrageous thing – things that I think other people are thinking, but are too afraid to say. Since I often find myself outside of the cultural norm for the area in which I live, this is not surprising. As I hone my writing craft, I hope to say more of those “unsayable” things – those things that need saying, things that need hearing – with humor, eloquence and compassion. And, I hope that resonates with others.

Welcome.
